Bihar Launches 24×7 Learning Platform for 3 Lakh Students Across 700 Schools

Bihar has launched a new digital education initiative that aims to give school students access to teachers and learning support beyond regular classroom hours.

Called Bihar Vidya Saathi, the 24×7 interactive learning platform was launched on 24 August 2026 for students in Classes 9 to 12. The first phase covers 700 Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools across all 38 districts of Bihar, with around three lakh students expected to benefit.

The platform is designed to provide students with free, one-to-one academic support. Students can connect with live teachers and ask questions about their lessons whenever they need help. Around 75,000 teachers are expected to provide personalised academic support through the platform.

Learning Beyond Classroom Hours

One of the main features of Bihar Vidya Saathi is that students do not have to wait for the next school day to clear a doubt.

The platform allows students to seek academic help at any time. This could be particularly useful for students who study outside regular school hours or need additional support with difficult subjects.

For Classes 9 and 10, the platform will provide digital learning material across subjects. Students in Classes 11 and 12 studying science will receive additional live tutor support and digital resources for their board examinations.

The platform will also provide study material for competitive examinations such as JEE and NEET, giving senior secondary students access to additional preparation support.

AI Added to the Learning Platform

Bihar Vidya Saathi also brings artificial intelligence into the state’s school education system.

The platform will use AI-based tools for concept learning, along with digital study resources and practice facilities. The aim is to give students additional ways to understand topics rather than relying only on classroom teaching.

This does not replace teachers. Instead, the platform adds another layer of support that students can use when they need help with concepts, questions or practice.

A Wider Push Towards Digital Education

The initiative comes as Bihar expands its free support for students preparing for competitive examinations.

Earlier this year, the Bihar School Examination Board expanded free JEE and NEET coaching to 155 selected Saraswati Vidya Niketan model schools. The state also operates residential and non-residential coaching programmes for students preparing for these examinations.

Bihar Vidya Saathi adds a digital component to these efforts, allowing students to access teachers and learning material through an online platform.

What It Could Mean for Students

For students, particularly those who may not have access to private tutoring, free digital support could provide another way to get academic help.

The bigger question will be how effectively students use the platform and whether the model can be expanded successfully to more schools.

The initiative also reflects a wider change in education. Technology is increasingly being used not only to deliver recorded lessons, but also to provide personalised learning, live teacher interaction, digital study material and AI-assisted support.

If the Bihar model works as intended, it could offer an example of how state education systems can use technology to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom.

For students, the idea is simple: when a question comes up at 10pm, learning support does not necessarily have to wait until the next morning.
