BHU Launches 142 New SWAYAM Online Courses for July 2026 Semester

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) has launched 142 new SWAYAM online courses for the July 2026 semester, further strengthening digital and flexible learning opportunities for students across India and abroad. As the National Coordinator for the Institute of National Importance (INI) category on the SWAYAM platform, BHU aims to expand access to high-quality education through online programmes developed by experienced faculty members.

The newly introduced courses span multiple disciplines, including science, humanities, social sciences, management, engineering and interdisciplinary subjects. Students enrolled in universities across the country can register for these courses and, where applicable, earn academic credits under the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) framework introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

University officials said the initiative is designed to make quality education more accessible by allowing learners to study at their own pace through interactive video lectures, digital reading materials, assignments and online assessments. The courses are available to both regular students and lifelong learners seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Education experts believe that online learning platforms such as SWAYAM are helping bridge geographical barriers by enabling students from remote areas to access courses taught by faculty from premier institutions. The initiative also supports multidisciplinary learning, allowing students to explore subjects beyond their primary field of study.

The expansion of SWAYAM courses reflects India’s continued push towards blended learning, combining classroom teaching with digital education. Such initiatives are expected to improve academic flexibility, encourage skill development and make higher education more inclusive.

Students interested in enrolling are advised to visit the SWAYAM portal, review course eligibility and registration timelines, and select programmes aligned with their academic and career goals. Universities accepting SWAYAM credits may integrate these courses into their degree programmes, subject to UGC guidelines.
