Delhi University Opens Financial Support Scheme 2026-27; Students Can Get Up to 100% Fee Waiver

Delhi University has opened applications for its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) for the 2026-27 academic session, offering eligible students financial assistance through fee waivers. The university posted the latest FSS notification on September 24, 2026, making the scheme a timely opportunity for students enrolled in eligible undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

The scheme is administered through the Office of the Dean Students’ Welfare and is intended to provide financial support to students who meet the prescribed income and eligibility conditions. DU has made the FSS information available through its official website and the Dean Students’ Welfare Office.

Under the scheme, eligible students can receive a fee waiver based on their annual family income. The university’s existing FSS framework provides for support of up to 100% for students in the lower-income category and up to 50% for students in the next income bracket. The waiver applies to eligible academic fees, while examination and hostel fees are excluded under the scheme framework.

For students from families with annual income of up to ₹4 lakh, the scheme has previously provided a waiver of up to 100% of the applicable fee, subject to the prescribed maximum limit. Students with annual family income between ₹4 lakh and ₹8 lakh have been eligible for support of up to 50%, again subject to the applicable ceiling. The exact conditions and limits for the 2026-27 cycle should be checked against the latest notification before applying.

The financial assistance is available to eligible full-time bonafide students studying in departments, institutes and centres of the University of Delhi. Students are required to provide supporting documentation as part of the application and verification process.

Documents associated with the scheme include proof of family income, applicable EWS or OBC-NCL documentation where required, income-tax records, a bonafide certificate, the student’s latest marksheet and fee receipt, and bank-account details. The university has also provided an undertaking form and bonafide certificate format for the 2026-27 scheme.

The scheme is significant because the cost of higher education can extend beyond tuition, with students also facing expenses related to books, transport, accommodation and other academic requirements. A fee waiver can therefore reduce at least one part of the financial burden for qualifying students.

DU has previously reported substantial participation in the FSS. In its documentation for the 2024-25 academic year, the university said 1,741 students received financial support under the scheme, with total grants of ₹1.43 crore. The data shows that the programme has already developed into an established financial-assistance mechanism within the university.

For the 2026-27 cycle, students should carefully check the latest eligibility rules, income requirements, document specifications and application deadline before submitting their forms. Providing incomplete or incorrect documentation can affect the verification process.

The launch of the new FSS cycle comes as DU begins another academic year and continues to expand student-support mechanisms alongside its academic programmes.
