Education Ministry Orders Probe Into Alleged UGC NET 2026 Paper Leak

The Ministry of Education has ordered an investigation into allegations of a paper leak in the UGC NET 2026 examination, following claims that question papers were circulated online before the test. The probe comes amid growing concerns over the integrity of national-level entrance and recruitment examinations and aims to determine whether any breach occurred during the conduct of the exam.

According to reports, the allegations surfaced after claims that a PDF of the examination paper was being sold online before the test. Following these reports, the Education Ministry directed the concerned authorities to investigate the matter and verify the authenticity of the claims. The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine eligibility for the posts of Assistant Professor, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and admission to PhD programmes in Indian universities and colleges. The examination is one of the country’s most important higher education entrance tests, with lakhs of candidates appearing each year.

Education experts say maintaining the credibility of competitive examinations is essential to ensuring merit-based selection.
