Parliamentary Panel to Review NEET Reforms, Strengthening NTA’s Examination Framework

A Parliamentary Standing Committee is set to review the functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA) and examine reforms introduced following the NEET-UG re-examination. Senior officials from the Ministry of Education and the NTA are expected to brief the panel on measures aimed at improving the transparency, credibility and efficiency of India’s national entrance examination system.

The review comes as the government continues efforts to strengthen one of India’s largest competitive examination systems. Discussions will focus on lessons learned from the recent NEET re-examination, improvements in examination security, better technology adoption and measures to enhance candidate confidence in the admission process.

Education experts believe the review is an important step towards modernising India’s entrance examination ecosystem. Over the past year, policymakers have placed greater emphasis on strengthening examination integrity through improved digital monitoring, stricter operational protocols and enhanced coordination between examination authorities.

The National Testing Agency conducts several major entrance examinations, including NEET, CUET, JEE Main and UGC NET, making it one of the country’s most significant testing bodies. Any improvements in its operational framework are expected to benefit millions of students appearing for competitive examinations each year.

Experts suggest that technology-driven solutions such as AI-assisted monitoring, biometric verification, encrypted question paper distribution and real-time surveillance could further improve examination security while reducing opportunities for malpractice.

The Parliamentary Committee is also expected to assess administrative preparedness, grievance redressal mechanisms and contingency planning for large-scale examinations. Strengthening communication with students and ensuring timely dissemination of information are considered key priorities in improving the candidate experience.
