The University of Delhi is set to organise the second edition of its AVASAR placement and internship fair on October 7, 2026, giving students an opportunity to interact directly with employers and explore jobs and internships.
According to the University of Delhi’s Central Placement Cell, the event will take place at the Indoor Stadium, Multipurpose Hall, Gate No. 2, North Campus. Students have been asked to report at 9 a.m.
More than 4,000 students have registered for the event, while more than 85 organisations are expected to participate, according to recent reports. The participating organisations are expected to represent multiple sectors and offer students opportunities across different professional roles.
The university has said that undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students enrolled with the University of Delhi, as well as DU alumni, are eligible to participate. Students from the School of Open Learning and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board are also eligible. There is no registration fee for participating in the event.
What Students Should Carry
Students should arrive prepared rather than treating AVASAR as a conventional college event.
The Central Placement Cell has advised participants to carry multiple updated copies of their resume or CV. Students should also carry valid identification and attend the event in formal or professional clothing.
A resume should be adapted to the type of opportunity being targeted. Students interested in content, marketing or communication roles, for example, should highlight writing, social media, research and communication experience. Candidates applying for technical positions should place relevant projects, technical skills and internships prominently on the document.
Students should also keep digital copies of their resume and important academic information accessible on their phones or other devices.
Research Recruiters Before the Event
Students should not wait until they arrive at the venue to discover what an organisation does.
The participating organisations are expected to include companies and institutions such as SPRIX Japan, Teach for India, Kotak Life, PPG Foundation, Cambridge School, Muthoot Finance, LSSSDC and others.
Candidates should research the organisations relevant to their career interests and understand the roles they are offering.
The university has specifically advised students to review eligibility criteria, job descriptions, internship details, compensation or stipend and selection requirements before participating in individual recruitment processes.
Prepare for On-the-Spot Interactions
AVASAR may involve company presentations, interviews, group discussions, screening rounds and other selection processes depending on the requirements of individual recruiters.
Students should therefore prepare a short introduction about themselves. A 30-second introduction should cover their course, year of study, relevant skills and the type of opportunity they are seeking.
Candidates should also be prepared to answer basic questions about their education, projects, internships and career goals.
According to reports, the highest annual salary package available through the drive exceeds ₹10 lakh, while the highest internship stipend is reported to be up to ₹60,000 per month. However, compensation varies by organisation, role, eligibility and selection outcome.
Students should therefore avoid focusing exclusively on the highest advertised package. The role, learning opportunities, location, work responsibilities and career prospects are equally important.
With thousands of students expected to participate, preparation could make a significant difference. Students who research recruiters, carry polished resumes and practise their introductions can use AVASAR not only to apply for jobs but also to understand what employers expect from graduates.
For DU students, October 7 is therefore more than a placement event. It is an opportunity to test their readiness for the transition from university to the workplace.
