Gurgaon has secured the third position in the latest state-level assessment of the Haryana government’s Mission Buniyaad programme, reflecting marked improvement in foundational learning outcomes among government school students. Hisar and Sirsa claimed the top two positions in the evaluation, with Gurgaon recording 1,637 students who have qualified for the programme’s next phase.
Officials from the education department said that consistent mentoring, frequent assessments, and targeted support for core subjects such as mathematics, science and language have strengthened learning fundamentals, particularly at the middle-school level. Mission Buniyaad, first introduced by the state government in 2022, focuses on reinforcing basic academic competencies and identifying meritorious students for advanced academic preparation.
Among the district’s high performers, three students stood out in the state ranking list. Sohan Thakur of Sushant Lok Model Sanskriti School secured 44th place, Ansh Kumar of Sector 14 Government Middle School was placed 55th, and Ichha from a government school in Pataudi finished at 65th position.
Several government schools in Gurgaon reported strong representation among qualifiers. The government school in Sector 4/7 led the district tally with 41 students advancing, followed by 37 students from Kadipur and 36 from Garhi Harsaru.
The state education department also announced plans for a dedicated Mission Buniyaad residential centre in Gurgaon, which is expected to begin operations in 2026. The facility will provide boarding and focused academic training, prioritising students from rural and semi-urban areas. Educators described the residential centre as a significant step toward long-term academic support for students across the district.
