The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) has extended the deadline for HPCET 2026 counselling registration for undergraduate and postgraduate admissions, giving eligible candidates additional time to complete the admission-cum-counselling process. Applicants seeking admission to engineering, pharmacy, management and other professional programmes can now submit their counselling forms through the official HPTU portal before the revised deadline.
University officials said the extension was introduced to ensure that more eligible candidates can participate in the counselling process without missing the opportunity due to technical or documentation-related delays. Candidates are advised to complete registration well before the final date and verify all personal and academic information before submission.
The counselling process includes online registration, document submission, merit verification, choice filling and seat allotment based on eligibility criteria and seat availability. Applicants must ensure they upload all required documents correctly, as incomplete applications may affect their admission prospects.
Education experts believe deadline extensions often help students who are awaiting certificates or facing internet connectivity issues, particularly those from remote areas. Additional time also allows candidates to carefully review course options and prepare the necessary documentation without unnecessary pressure.
HPCET serves as the gateway for admission to several undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by HPTU and its affiliated institutions. The university conducts the counselling process to allocate seats in a transparent and merit-based manner while ensuring compliance with admission guidelines.
Students are encouraged to regularly visit the official HPTU website for updates on the revised counselling schedule, merit lists and seat allotment announcements. Missing important deadlines during the admission process could result in the loss of admission opportunities.
Career counsellors also advise aspirants to keep scanned copies of all academic certificates, category documents (if applicable), photographs and payment receipts readily available to ensure a smooth registration process.
The extension reflects HPTU’s efforts to facilitate a more inclusive admission process while giving candidates sufficient time to complete the formalities for the 2026 academic session.
