Delhi University Releases Academic Calendar for 2026–27; Classes to Begin on July 28

The University of Delhi (DU) has released its academic calendar for the 2026–27 session, announcing that undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) classes will commence on July 28, 2026. The calendar outlines key academic dates, including semester schedules, examinations, vacations and preparation leave, helping students and colleges plan the upcoming academic year.

According to the schedule, practical examinations and preparation leave for the first semester will begin on November 20, while theory examinations are scheduled to start from December 4. The academic calendar also includes timelines for winter and summer breaks, ensuring uniform implementation across affiliated colleges and departments.

The release of the calendar comes as Delhi University continues its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) admission process for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Candidates who have qualified through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) are advised to regularly check the university’s admission portal for counselling updates, seat allocation schedules and document verification details.

Education experts note that publishing the academic calendar before the start of the session helps students, faculty members and institutions plan coursework, examinations and extracurricular activities more effectively. A well-defined schedule also supports timely completion of semesters and minimizes disruptions to academic activities.

Delhi University remains one of India’s most sought-after higher education institutions, attracting students from across the country for programmes in arts, commerce, science, management and social sciences. The university has continued implementing reforms under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) and multidisciplinary learning opportunities.

Students are encouraged to complete admission formalities, verify their academic documents and attend orientation programmes before the commencement of classes. University officials have also advised colleges to ensure a smooth onboarding process for newly admitted students.

The publication of the academic calendar marks the beginning of preparations for the new academic session. With admissions progressing through the CSAS portal, Delhi University is set to welcome a new batch of students on July 28, as institutions across the campus prepare for the 2026–27 academic year.
