Jamia Millia Islamia Approves One-Year PG Programmes in 13 Disciplines Through Online and Distance Learning

Jamia Millia Islamia has approved one-year postgraduate programmes across 13 disciplines through Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Learning (OL) modes for the 2026-27 academic session. The decision was formalised through an office order issued on September 21.

The programmes will be offered through JMI’s Centre for Distance and Online Education (CDOE) and include 11 MA disciplines, an MBA and an MCom in Business Management. The MA programmes cover Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Human Resource Management, Islamic Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology and Urdu.

The university said the introduction is in accordance with provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and applicable regulations of the University Grants Commission (UGC). The September 21 order was issued by JMI Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi on behalf of the university’s Academic Council.

The move expands JMI’s distance and online postgraduate offerings and gives graduates additional one-year PG options without requiring conventional full-time campus attendance. JMI already operates distance and online programmes through its CDOE.

However, the current announcement confirms the approval of the programmes, not the complete admission schedule. Admission dates, fees and eligibility details for these newly approved one-year programmes have not been specified in the available announcement. Students should therefore wait for the official CDOE admission notification before making application or payment decisions.
