CBSE Board Exams 2027: Class 10 and 12 Candidate Registration Opens, Schools Get Until October 21

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has opened the List of Candidates (LOC) submission window for the 2027 Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations from September 24, 2026. Affiliated schools must complete the process through the CBSE portal by October 21, 2026, without a late fee.

The LOC process is an important pre-examination step because the board uses the submitted candidate information to prepare for the upcoming examinations. CBSE has stated that only students whose names are registered through the LOC will be permitted to appear for the relevant 2027 board examinations.

What is the CBSE LOC?

The List of Candidates is the official candidate-registration process through which CBSE-affiliated schools submit details of students appearing for the board examinations.

Schools can submit the information without a late fee until October 21, 2026. A late-submission window is scheduled from October 22 to October 30, 2026, with a late fee applicable. A correction window is scheduled for November 2 to November 4, 2026.

For Class 10 students, the current LOC submission relates to the first board examination, scheduled for February-March 2027. CBSE has said the LOC for the second Class 10 board examination will be submitted separately after the first examination.

Examination fee and late fee

For Indian students, the examination fee is reported as ₹1,600 for five subjects, with an additional ₹320 for each additional subject. During the late-submission period, a ₹2,000 late fee per candidate, in addition to the applicable examination fee, is payable.

Schools therefore need to verify candidate information and complete fee-related processes within the prescribed timelines.

Why students and parents should pay attention

Although students do not normally submit the LOC themselves, they should verify the information their school has on record.

Errors in names, dates of birth, subjects or other candidate details can create problems later in the examination process. CBSE has also indicated that certain changes may not be considered after the LOC has been submitted.
