Delhi Technological University (DTU) has announced a series of new academic programmes and international collaborations as the university marks its 85th year. The initiatives include integrated BSc-MSc programmes, an accelerated BTech-MS pathway with the University of Houston and a new Economics double-major track for BTech students.
The university has introduced an integrated BSc-MSc programme in Data Science for the 2026-27 academic session. DTU’s official website currently lists admissions for the integrated BSc-MSc programme as part of its 2026 academic offerings.
The expansion comes as universities increasingly add programmes around data, analytics, artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary learning. For students, such programmes can provide a structured pathway to combine undergraduate study with postgraduate-level education.
DTU’s 4+1 BTech-MS Programme
Another major initiative is DTU’s 4+1 accelerated BTech-MS programme developed in collaboration with the University of Houston.
Under the programme, students can complete their BTech at DTU and pursue an MS degree at the University of Houston through the accelerated pathway. DTU has separately published a notice regarding the programme and its collaboration with the University of Houston.
The international collaboration gives the university’s engineering students an additional route to postgraduate study through an overseas academic partner. It also reflects the growing emphasis on international academic collaborations within Indian higher education.
New Economics Double Major for BTech Students
DTU is also introducing a Double Major Track in Economics for BTech students from the 2026-27 academic session.
According to The Indian Express, the track will cover subjects including Network Economics, Platform Economics, Economics of AI, Game Theory, Machine Learning for Economics and High-Frequency Algorithmic Trading.
The combination brings economic concepts into an engineering education framework. Students taking the track can therefore study technology-oriented subjects alongside areas involving markets, economics, artificial intelligence and quantitative analysis.
Wider Academic and Industry Collaborations
DTU’s latest academic initiatives are part of a broader set of collaborations announced by the university. The institution has joined hands with organisations including the Indian Army, Defence Space Agency, Bajaj Auto, CSIR-NPL, IUAC, IRISET, GRIHA Council, Esri India, ASSOCHAM and the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
The university has also expanded its academic offerings in areas connected with emerging technologies and interdisciplinary education.
For students, these developments point toward an education model that increasingly combines engineering with data science, economics, international study and industry-linked learning.
What This Means for Students
DTU’s new programmes give students additional academic pathways beyond conventional engineering degrees. Data Science and Applied Statistics provide specialised options in data-oriented education, while the Economics double major introduces business and analytical perspectives into BTech education.
The BTech-MS collaboration with the University of Houston adds an international postgraduate pathway to the university’s portfolio.
As DTU enters its 86th year, these initiatives place emerging technology, interdisciplinary study and international academic collaboration at the centre of several of its new offerings.
