NMMSS Scholarship 2026-27: Students Can Apply Till September 30, Check Eligibility and Details

The Ministry of Education has extended the deadline for applications under the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) 2026-27) to September 30, 2026.

The scholarship is aimed at helping meritorious students from economically weaker sections continue their education after Class 8 and complete their studies up to Class 12. The Ministry announced the extended deadline through the Press Information Bureau.

Under the revised schedule, students have until September 30 to submit their applications on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The deadline for Institute Nodal Officer verification is October 15, while District Nodal Officer verification must be completed by October 31.

The NSP application process for the 2026-27 academic year opened on June 1. Students applying for the scholarship need to complete One-Time Registration (OTR) on the portal before applying for the relevant scholarship scheme.

The NMMSS is implemented by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education. Its primary objective is to reduce school dropouts among students after the elementary level by providing financial support to eligible students so they can continue their education through the higher secondary stage.

Students and parents should complete the application process before the deadline rather than waiting until the final day. Applicants should also carefully check their details and required documents before submitting the form.

The National Scholarship Portal currently lists NMMSS 2026-27 as an open scheme, with student applications available until September 30.
