CBSE Allows Students in Classes 7–9 to Continue Foreign Language Option Till Class 10

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a major relief for students currently studying in Classes 7 to 9 by allowing them to continue with their existing foreign language combinations until Class 10. The decision comes after concerns from students, parents and schools regarding the challenges of changing language subjects midway through secondary education.

According to CBSE, students who have already opted for foreign languages such as French, German, Japanese or other approved languages will not be required to switch subjects before completing Class 10. The move is expected to provide academic continuity and reduce unnecessary stress for lakhs of students studying under the CBSE curriculum.

Education experts have welcomed the decision, stating that language learning requires consistency over several years.
