The Rajasthan education department has directed private schools to obtain formal approval if they are running secondary or senior secondary classes without the required recognition.
According to officials, several schools across the state currently hold recognition only for primary or upper primary levels but have expanded their operations to include higher classes. The department has now asked such institutions to regularise their status by securing the necessary permissions from the authorities.
The directive states that schools must apply for the required approval within the prescribed time frame. Institutions that fail to comply may face administrative action, including the possible withdrawal of their No Objection Certificate.
Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring that schools offering higher classes meet the academic and infrastructure standards mandated by the state. Proper recognition, the department noted, is necessary to maintain uniform standards in teaching, facilities and student assessment.
The department has also asked district education authorities to review the status of private schools operating in their jurisdictions and ensure that institutions comply with the regulatory framework governing school education in the state.
