The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) continued its nationwide board examination cycle on Thursday with the Class 12 Psychology paper, conducted across thousands of centres in India and overseas schools affiliated with the board.
The examination was held in the 10:30 am to 1:30 pm slot, in line with CBSE’s standard board exam schedule for the 2025–26 academic session. Students were required to arrive well before the reporting time as entry gates at most centres closed around 10 am, allowing invigilators to complete verification procedures prior to the start of the examination.
The Psychology paper carried 70 marks and followed the pattern prescribed in the revised CBSE evaluation framework. The question paper was structured across multiple sections comprising objective questions, short-answer responses, case-based analysis and longer descriptive answers, designed to test both conceptual clarity and applied understanding of psychological principles.
According to preliminary feedback from teachers and exam observers, the paper broadly adhered to the syllabus and blueprint released by the board earlier in the academic year. Questions were largely drawn from core chapters such as psychological disorders, therapeutic approaches, social influence and attitudes, and human development, areas that form the backbone of the Class 12 Psychology curriculum.
Education experts noted that CBSE has been gradually reshaping its assessment approach to emphasise analytical ability and conceptual comprehension rather than rote memorisation. The structure of the Psychology paper reflected this shift, with several questions requiring students to interpret scenarios and apply theoretical frameworks.
The Class 12 board examinations are currently underway across the country, covering multiple streams and subjects over several weeks. The board has implemented a number of administrative measures this year to streamline the evaluation process, including revised guidelines for examiners and tighter timelines for paper assessment.
For lakhs of students appearing in the examinations, the board exam season represents the culmination of twelve years of schooling. Performance in Class 12 results continues to play a decisive role in university admissions, professional entrance pathways and scholarship opportunities, making the ongoing examination cycle one of the most closely watched events in India’s academic calendar.
