The Telangana government on Friday announced a significant overhaul of its school education programme with the introduction of Artificial Intelligence as part of the curriculum from the academic year 2026-27, along with plans to strengthen student welfare through expanded breakfast and milk schemes.
State officials said that the new initiative aims to familiarise students with emerging technologies from an early stage and equip them with skills increasingly demanded in the job market. Teachers will receive specialised training ahead of the rollout so that they can effectively integrate AI concepts into classroom instruction.
According to officials, the curriculum will include foundational principles of AI and practical exposure that aligns with national priorities on digital literacy and future skills. Education authorities said the programme intends to balance conceptual understanding with ethical awareness of technology use.
In a related announcement, the state government confirmed that nutritional support for students will be expanded, ensuring that children receive a morning meal along with milk at school.
