New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi National Open University has opened admissions for the January 2026 academic session for programmes offered through open and distance learning as well as online modes, university officials said on Thursday.
Admissions are open for a wide range of certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and postgraduate diploma programmes. The university has also begun the re-registration process for existing students seeking to progress to the next academic year or semester.
Officials said admissions and re-registrations are being conducted entirely through the online portal. Students enrolling in distance learning programmes will be attached to designated learner support centres for academic assistance and counselling.
The last date to apply for fresh admissions and re-registration for the January session has been fixed as January 31, 2026.
IGNOU officials said the university continues to expand access to higher education through flexible learning options, particularly for working professionals, learners in remote areas, and those seeking skill based or multidisciplinary programmes.
Candidates have been advised to carefully check programme eligibility criteria and fee details before applying, as requirements vary across courses.
