New Delhi. The release of admit cards for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2026 has been postponed, according to an official update issued by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, the organising institute for this year’s examination.
The admit cards were originally scheduled to be released on January 2, 2026. IIT Guwahati said the revised release date would be announced shortly and that candidates should monitor the official GATE website for updates.
“The release date of the GATE 2026 admit card has been postponed. The revised release date will be announced soon,” the institute said in a notice published on the examination portal.
The GATE 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, and will be held in two daily sessions. The forenoon session will run from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., while the afternoon session is slated from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.
The examination will cover 30 test papers. Candidates are permitted to appear for either one or, subject to eligibility rules, up to two papers.
Once released, admit cards will be available for download from the official website. Candidates will be required to log in using their application credentials to access the document, which is mandatory for entry to the examination centre.
Further information regarding the revised admit card timeline will be communicated through the official GATE portal.
