The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has opened the score display for the IBPS PO/MT-XVI preliminary examination, allowing candidates to check their individual performance. According to the official IBPS portal, the score display began on September 29, 2026, and will remain available until October 28, 2026.
The IBPS PO preliminary examination is the first stage of the recruitment process for Probationary Officer and Management Trainee positions in participating banks. Candidates who qualify for the next stage move on to the online Main examination.
The scorecard gives candidates more information than simply knowing whether they qualified. It allows them to examine their marks and understand where they performed well and where improvement may be needed.
Candidates can access the score display through the official IBPS recruitment portal using their registration or roll number along with their password or date of birth. The official portal currently lists the score-display window from September 29 to October 28.
The next major step for candidates who have qualified is the IBPS PO Main examination. Current examination information indicates that the 2026 Main exam is scheduled for October 4.
This leaves candidates with limited time to shift their preparation from the preliminary examination to the Main stage.
The Main examination requires a different preparation strategy because candidates need to deal with more detailed sections and a broader level of difficulty. Instead of spending time repeatedly analysing the preliminary result, qualified candidates should now concentrate on mock tests, previous questions, time management and revision.
Candidates who did not qualify can also use their scorecard constructively. The marks can help identify whether the main problem was speed, accuracy, a particular section or overall preparation.
For example, a candidate may have performed well in one section but lost marks through excessive errors in another. Such information can help create a more targeted study plan for future banking examinations.
It is also important not to confuse the score display with final selection. Clearing the preliminary stage only allows an eligible candidate to move to the next part of the recruitment process. The overall recruitment process involves subsequent stages and the final selection depends on the applicable recruitment rules.
Candidates should download and preserve their scorecard for their records. They should also rely on IBPS’s official website for subsequent notices rather than unofficial social-media updates.
For those moving forward, the immediate priority is straightforward: understand the score, identify weak areas and focus on the Main examination.
The IBPS PO scorecard is therefore not just a result document. It can also provide candidates with useful information about their preparation and help them plan their next step more effectively.
