The Ghaziabad Traffic Police have released a new traffic advisory for school zones following a series of minor road incidents reported near educational institutions in the past month. The updated guidelines aim to enhance student safety during peak hours and streamline vehicle movement around densely populated school areas.
According to officials, the advisory includes strict no-parking zones near school gates, designated pick-up and drop-off lanes, and mandatory speed limits of 20–25 km/h in all school corridors. Traffic personnel will be deployed during morning and afternoon rush hours to manage congestion and ensure compliance.
Schools have been instructed to redesign their internal traffic flow where possible, including separate entry and exit points for buses, private vehicles, and pedestrians. Institutions must also ensure that security staff assist in managing sidewalks and crossings during student dispersal.
Parents have been urged to follow staggered pick-up timings, avoid stopping abruptly near gates, and refrain from double parking—one of the primary causes of bottlenecks near schools. The advisory also encourages the use of carpooling to reduce traffic volume.
In addition, the police are planning awareness drives with school administrations to educate students about safe road habits, including using zebra crossings, avoiding running across roads, and staying clear of moving buses.
The new measures will be monitored over the coming weeks, and stricter enforcement may follow if violations continue.
