The National Testing Agency has released its tentative examination calendar for the December 2026 to March 2027 period, giving students an early view of several major entrance and eligibility examinations.
The calendar includes UGC-NET, Joint CSIR-UGC NET, JEE Main 2027 Session 1, NIFT Entrance Examination, CMAT and CUET PG, among other examinations. The schedule is intended to help students and educational institutions plan their preparation and academic timelines.
JEE Main 2027
JEE Main is one of India’s major engineering entrance examinations and is used for admission to several centrally funded technical institutions.
According to the announced calendar, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is scheduled to begin in January 2027.
Students preparing for the examination will need to keep track of the detailed notification, registration dates, application correction window, city intimation slip, admit card and final examination schedule.
UGC-NET
The UGC-NET examination is used to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor positions in Indian universities and colleges.
The December 2026 UGC-NET examination is also included in the new NTA calendar.
Candidates should not treat the tentative calendar as the final examination notice. Detailed instructions, eligibility requirements and application dates will be provided separately by the examination authority.
CUET PG
The Common University Entrance Test for postgraduate admissions is another major examination included in the calendar.
CUET PG is used by participating universities as part of their postgraduate admission process.
Students planning to apply for postgraduate courses should check the participating university list and individual course requirements before applying.
Why does the calendar matter?
Large national examinations involve millions of candidates and require significant planning.
An advance calendar allows students to organise preparation, identify overlapping examinations and plan application deadlines.
It can also help coaching centres, schools and universities prepare their academic schedules.
However, candidates should continue checking official NTA notifications because tentative dates can change.
The examination calendar is therefore a planning document rather than a substitute for individual exam notifications.
