UGC Directs Universities to Upload Academic Records on ABC Platform by June 30

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has instructed all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), including universities and autonomous colleges, to upload students’ academic records for the 2025 examination year to the National Academic Depository (NAD) through the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) platform by June 30, 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening India’s digital higher education ecosystem under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

According to the UGC, institutions must complete the uploading process within the stipulated deadline, after which fresh uploads for the specified examination year will not be accepted. Universities have been advised to verify student records carefully to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies in digital academic documentation.

The Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) is a key component of NEP 2020, allowing students to digitally store, transfer and redeem academic credits earned from recognized higher education institutions. The platform supports flexible learning pathways by enabling students to move between institutions without losing previously earned credits.

Education experts believe the ABC system will significantly improve transparency, reduce paperwork and simplify academic verification for students pursuing higher education or employment opportunities. Digital academic records also help institutions process admissions, transfers and credit recognition more efficiently.

Universities across the country have accelerated efforts to digitize student records and integrate their academic management systems with the ABC platform. Many institutions have established dedicated technical teams to ensure timely compliance with UGC guidelines.
