UPSC CSE 2026 Notification Delay: Commission Postpones Release, Aspirants Await New Date

New Delhi, 2 Feb 2026, The eagerly anticipated notification for the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 has not been released today, as many aspirants had hoped, with the Commission confirming a postponement of the scheduled January announcement.

According to UPSC’s official communication, the notification originally due on 14 January 2026, as per the annual exam calendar,  was deferred due to administrative reasons affecting both the Civil Services and Indian Forest Service (IFS) exam notices. The Commission stated that the notifications “will be notified in due course” once the internal processes are completed, without specifying a revised release date.

Despite the delay, the UPSC 2026 exam calendar remains the reference for aspirants: the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for 24 May 2026, with the Main Examination to follow in August 2026, although upcoming adjustments to application timelines could emerge depending on the final notification date.

Education analysts note that such postponements, while uncommon, offer candidates extra preparation time, but also prolong uncertainty over application start dates and vacancy details, which are typically included in the official UPSC notification PDF.

Students and coaching centres are closely monitoring the UPSC’s official portal for updates, as the notification release also marks the commencement of the registration process on upsconline.nic.in.
