The education authorities across the National Capital Region have directed all private schools to submit updated safety compliance reports by the end of December. The directive follows recent reviews of school infrastructure, student safety measures, and emergency preparedness across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, and Ghaziabad.
Officials stated that the compliance report must include details on fire safety certifications, CCTV coverage, visitor monitoring systems, transportation safety checks, emergency exits, first-aid readiness, and the background verification status of all school staff. Schools are also required to share updates on safety drills conducted during the current academic session.
The move comes after several minor incidents reported in recent months, prompting the authorities to reassess the overall safety environment of educational institutions in NCR. District education officers will conduct random physical inspections in January to verify the authenticity of submitted reports.
Many schools have already begun reviewing their internal safety standards. Administrators mentioned that they are upgrading CCTV cameras, verifying bus staff credentials, and ensuring that fire extinguishers and alarm systems are fully functional before the deadline.
Parents’ associations have welcomed the directive, noting that safety measures—especially in large private schools—need consistent monitoring. The authorities have clarified that non-compliance may lead to penalties, notices, or suspension of renewal permissions for the next academic year.
More clarity on inspection schedules and district-specific guidelines is expected to be released in the upcoming week.
