The National Testing Agency (NTA) on Monday released the results for Session 1 of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026, setting off the next phase of India’s high-stakes engineering admissions cycle.
The announcement, made on February 16, marks a critical milestone for lakhs of aspirants seeking entry into undergraduate engineering programmes across the country. JEE Main scores determine eligibility and ranking for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions, while also serving as the qualifying gateway to JEE Advanced for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Session 1 of JEE Main 2026 was conducted earlier this year in multiple shifts, continuing the NTA’s established practice of holding the examination in more than one session to provide candidates with flexibility and the opportunity to improve their scores. The release of the Session 1 results now enables students to assess their performance and make informed decisions ahead of the subsequent admission processes and the second session of the exam.
Candidates can access their scorecards through the official NTA portals by logging in with their application credentials. The scorecard includes the candidate’s percentile scores in individual subjects as well as the aggregate percentile, which will be used to prepare the all-India ranks after the completion of all sessions.
With engineering remaining one of the most sought-after streams in India’s higher education landscape, the declaration of the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results assumes national significance. For many students, the outcome will shape not only their immediate academic trajectory but also longer-term professional pathways in a competitive and evolving technical education ecosystem.
