A university in Meghalaya has launched a “Teacher Connect” programme aimed at building closer engagement between school teachers and higher education faculty, with the goal of improving teaching practices and academic collaboration.
The initiative brought together more than 160 school educators and university faculty members in a structured interaction designed to share classroom experiences, discuss curriculum gaps and explore opportunities for academic cooperation. Officials said the programme seeks to address the disconnect that often exists between school level teaching and expectations in higher education.
Participants discussed challenges faced in classrooms, changes required in teaching methods and ways to better prepare students for the transition from school to college. Faculty members also shared insights into emerging academic trends and research practices that could inform school level teaching.
Education officials said programmes of this kind can help align school education with evolving academic standards in universities. By facilitating dialogue between educators across different levels, the initiative aims to improve both teaching quality and student preparedness.
The organisers indicated that similar engagements may be held regularly to build a sustained platform for collaboration between schools and higher education institutions in the region.
