The Haryana government has announced plans to set up model Sanskriti colleges in all districts of the state, alongside the creation of a Rs 20 crore research fund aimed at strengthening academic work in higher education institutions.
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at a state-level programme, where he said the new colleges would focus on quality education, Indian knowledge systems, and research-oriented learning. Each district will have one model Sanskriti college, designed to serve as a benchmark institution with improved academic facilities and faculty support.
The proposed Rs 20 crore research fund will be used to encourage research among teachers and students in government colleges. The fund is intended to support innovative research projects, promote interdisciplinary studies, and improve the overall research output of state-run institutions.
According to the government, the Sanskriti colleges will place emphasis on Indian traditions, values, and cultural studies, while also aligning with modern academic and research standards. The initiative is part of a broader push to upgrade the public higher education system and make government colleges more attractive to students.
Officials said the colleges would be developed in a phased manner and would focus on infrastructure upgrades, academic resources, and faculty development. The research fund will be accessible to eligible institutions across the state, with guidelines to be issued separately.
The state government said the twin initiatives aim to improve learning outcomes, strengthen research culture, and ensure balanced access to quality higher education across all districts.
