The Haryana Institute of Public Administration has introduced a structured training module for colleges to help identify students facing psychological stress, academic pressure, or social distress at an early stage.
Designed for teachers and college administrators, the programme focuses on recognising warning signs such as prolonged absenteeism, sudden changes in behaviour, declining academic performance, and social withdrawal. Faculty members will be trained to respond through counselling referrals, peer support systems, and coordination with mental health professionals where required.
According to officials, the module aims to strengthen the role of colleges as the first line of support for young adults, particularly in the context of rising concerns around student mental health. The training material also outlines standard protocols for interaction, confidentiality, and follow-up, ensuring students receive help without stigma.
The initiative will be implemented through workshops and orientation sessions across government and private colleges in the state. The Haryana Institute of Public Administration said the programme is part of a broader effort to sensitise educational institutions and create safer, more responsive campus environments.
Education officials indicated that feedback from the initial phase will be used to refine the module before a wider rollout.
