In a move aligned with the National Education Policy’s emphasis on experiential and skill-based learning, the Haryana government has announced plans to establish composite technical laboratories in government schools across the state, introducing students to emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics and coding.
The initiative signals a shift away from traditional rote-learning models toward hands-on, technology-driven education designed to equip students with future-ready competencies. These labs are expected to function as integrated learning spaces where theoretical concepts intersect with practical application, allowing students to experiment, build and problem-solve using modern tools and digital platforms.
Officials have positioned the programme as part of a broader effort to modernise public education infrastructure and reduce the widening skill gap between school education and industry requirements. By embedding exposure to advanced technologies at the school level, the state aims to nurture analytical thinking, creativity and innovation among students, particularly those from government school backgrounds who often have limited access to such resources.
The rollout also reflects NEP’s call for multidisciplinary and technology-enabled learning environments. If implemented effectively, the composite labs could play a key role in preparing a new generation of learners for evolving academic pathways and technology-oriented careers in an increasingly digital economy.
