The Gurugram Education Department has initiated a district-wide drive to address rising complaints of fee overcharging by private schools. Over the past few weeks, several parents have reported unexpected increments in tuition fees, transport charges, and annual fees, prompting officials to take immediate action.
As part of the new initiative, inspection teams have been formed to conduct surprise audits at private schools across the city. These audits will verify whether institutions are following the Haryana School Education Rules, which mandate transparent fee structures and prohibit unjustified hikes without prior approval.
Officials have stated that schools found violating guidelines may face strict penalties, including warnings, monetary fines, or even suspension of their recognition in severe cases. The department has also instructed schools to publish their complete fee structure on notice boards and official websites, ensuring clarity for parents.
To strengthen the process, a dedicated grievance channel has been opened where parents can lodge complaints through email or helpline numbers. The department has assured that every complaint will be reviewed, and action will be taken within a defined timeframe.
Parent associations in Gurugram have welcomed the move, stating that sudden fee hikes have been a long-standing concern. Many believe the drive will bring greater accountability to private educational institutions and ease financial pressure on families.
The Education Department is expected to release a detailed compliance report by the end of the month, outlining the findings of the inspections and the next steps to regulate fee structures more effectively across the district.
