Gujarat Vidyapith has announced the admission schedule for the 2026 academic session, opening applications across undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and doctoral programmes, with a total of 1,246 seats on offer.
The application window begins on March 22 and will remain open until May 8. Admissions will be conducted through two routes, the Common University Entrance Test and the university’s own entrance examination, the Gujarat Vidyapith Entrance Test for Education Assessment, scheduled for May 10.
The continuation of a dual admission pathway reflects the institution’s attempt to balance national standardisation with its own academic framework. While CUET has emerged as a centralised gateway for higher education admissions, several universities have retained internal tests to preserve course-specific evaluation and institutional priorities.
Gujarat Vidyapith, founded on Gandhian principles, has historically maintained a distinct academic and cultural orientation. Officials suggest that the admission process will continue to place emphasis on values-based education alongside academic merit.
The announcement comes at a time when universities across the country are aligning admission calendars more closely with national entrance timelines, seeking to reduce uncertainty for students. At the same time, the reliance on multiple admission channels may pose challenges for applicants navigating overlapping schedules and criteria.
The coming cycle will test how effectively institutions such as Gujarat Vidyapith integrate national reforms with their own legacy systems, without adding to the complexity faced by prospective students.
