The results of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering 2026 will be announced on Thursday by the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, bringing an end to weeks of anticipation among lakhs of candidates across the country. The examination, which serves as a gateway to postgraduate engineering programmes and recruitment in public sector undertakings, remains one of the most competitive assessments in the technical education space.
Candidates will be able to access their scorecards through the official portal using their enrolment credentials. The institute is also expected to release branch-wise cut-off marks alongside the results, a key indicator that determines eligibility for admissions and job opportunities.
This year’s examination was conducted over multiple sessions in February, with authorities maintaining that the process was carried out smoothly. However, students and coaching institutes have pointed to variations in difficulty levels across different papers, a factor that could influence cut-off trends.
Beyond admissions to premier institutions such as the IITs and IISc, GATE scores continue to hold weight in recruitment by several public sector companies, making the outcome significant not only for academic progression but also for early career trajectories.
As the results go live, attention will shift to counselling schedules and recruitment announcements, with candidates closely tracking the next steps in what remains a crucial juncture in India’s technical education pipeline.
