Private unaided schools in Delhi have published the first admission list for nursery, kindergarten and Class 1 for the 2026-27 academic session. The list was issued on January 23, 2026, covering the names of approximately 1.25 lakh applicants across more than 1,700 schools in the city. The lists include both selected candidates and those placed on waiting lists.
Schools prepared the list under guidelines issued by the Directorate of Education, applying a points-based system. Points were allocated based on factors such as the child’s distance from the school, whether a sibling is already enrolled, alumni connections and other criteria set by authorities. The initial list follows publication of a point-wise applicant list on January 16.
Parents and guardians may access the admission lists through official school websites and notice boards. Names of children allotted seats and of those placed on the waiting list are available. Selected families are expected to complete verification and fee submission within timelines specified by individual schools.
Parents who have concerns about point allocation or selection decisions can raise objections from January 24 through February 3, 2026. A second admission list is scheduled for release on February 9, with further lists possible if seats remain vacant. The overall admission process is expected to conclude by March 19, 2026.
Age eligibility criteria for the academic year require children to have reached a minimum age of three years for nursery, four for KG and five for Class 1 by March 31, 2026. Relaxation of up to one month may be granted with approval from school authorities.
The publication of the first list marks a key milestone in the competitive admissions cycle for Delhi’s private schools, providing clarity for thousands of parents after weeks of application processing and point assessments.
