Delhi’s Education Minister on Friday offered a progress review of the government’s first year in office, outlining efforts to reform the capital’s education system and emphasising that structural change cannot happen overnight.
In a statement issued from the Secretariat, the minister stressed that the administration remains committed to long-term initiatives designed to improve governance, expand access and strengthen learning outcomes in government schools across the city. The assessment came as part of broader discussions on policy direction and priorities for the coming year.
Officials pointed to steps taken to enhance teacher training, digitise school records and streamline admission processes as indicators of progress on key fronts. The minister noted that while some reforms have started to yield results, many others require sustained efforts and cooperation among stakeholders to deliver meaningful impact.
Challenges such as disparities in infrastructure, teacher recruitment and student retention were acknowledged as areas requiring continued focus. Educators and parent groups welcomed the emphasis on consultation but underlined the need for more transparent timelines for implementation of proposed changes.
Looking ahead, the education department said it intends to prioritise curriculum enrichment programmes, strengthen remedial support for struggling learners and expand community engagement in school activities. The minister reiterated that reforms are incremental by design and aimed at building a resilient and inclusive education system for all students in the capital.
