The Delhi government has once again placed education at the centre of its fiscal priorities, earmarking ₹19,148 crore in the 2026–27 Budget for the sector. The allocation, among the largest in the spending plan, signals a continued emphasis on strengthening public schooling through infrastructure upgrades and wider use of technology.
A significant portion of the outlay is directed towards expanding digital classrooms and modern learning tools across government schools. Officials say the intent is to bridge gaps in access while aligning teaching methods with evolving academic and workplace demands.
Alongside infrastructure, the Budget outlines a set of student-focused measures aimed at improving retention and learning outcomes. These include support schemes designed to ease financial pressure on families and encourage continued enrolment, particularly at the secondary level.
The push reflects the administration’s longer-term strategy of consolidating gains made in school education over the past decade, while responding to new challenges posed by rapid digitalisation. The coming year is expected to test how effectively these allocations translate into measurable improvements inside classrooms.
