Computer Science Remains the Most Preferred Course Among Aspirants at IIT Dharwad

Computer Science and Engineering continues to be the most sought-after programme among engineering aspirants seeking admission to the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad, according to recent admission data linked to the Joint Entrance Examination process.

Figures from the latest admission cycle indicate that a significant share of candidates prioritised Computer Science and Engineering while filling their course preferences. The trend mirrors a broader pattern seen across several Indian Institutes of Technology where technology-focused disciplines continue to draw the highest demand from applicants.

Academic officials attribute this sustained interest to the strong employment prospects associated with the field. Careers in software development, artificial intelligence, data science and related sectors continue to attract engineering graduates, prompting students to place Computer Science at the top of their choices during counselling.

At IIT Dharwad, other engineering streams such as mechanical, electrical and civil engineering also saw applications from candidates. However, the number of aspirants opting for these programmes remained lower compared with Computer Science.
