The Union government has announced plans to set up content creator laboratories in around 15,000 schools and 500 colleges across the country as part of efforts to promote skills in the animation, visual effects, gaming and comics sector.
Officials said the initiative is intended to encourage collaboration between industry and academic institutions while equipping students with practical exposure to digital content creation and emerging creative technologies. The proposal forms part of the broader push to develop India’s creative economy and strengthen job opportunities in the sector.
The planned laboratories are expected to provide students with access to tools and training related to animation, gaming, design and digital storytelling. Education institutions participating in the programme will work with industry partners to develop relevant training modules and learning resources.
The government believes the initiative can help prepare students for careers in rapidly expanding digital and media industries, where demand for skilled professionals continues to rise. The move is also aimed at integrating creative technology skills into the education ecosystem at an early stage.
Officials indicated that further guidelines on implementation and institutional participation will be issued in the coming months as the programme is rolled out across selected schools and colleges.
