New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education has cancelled the Class 12 board examinations scheduled between March 16 and April 10 in seven West Asian countries, citing security concerns in the region.
The decision affects students studying in CBSE affiliated schools in countries including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Iran. Officials said the step was taken after reviewing the prevailing situation and keeping student safety as the primary consideration.
According to board officials, nearly 20,000 students from around 200 schools are expected to be affected by the cancellation of the examinations. The CBSE has said it will announce an alternative assessment method for these candidates.
The board indicated that the evaluation process may rely on internal assessments, practical examinations and pre board performance, though detailed guidelines will be issued separately.
School authorities in the affected countries have been advised to inform students and parents about the revised assessment process once the board releases the official framework.
