A high-profile delegation of Canadian university leaders is scheduled to visit India from February 2 to 6, 2026, in a concerted push to expand research collaboration, academic partnerships and transnational education frameworks between the two nations.
Led by Universities Canada, the delegation comprises 21 presidents of leading Canadian universities who will hold a series of meetings across Goa, New Delhi and Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) with representatives of Indian higher education institutions, government officials and industry stakeholders. The visit comes against the backdrop of renewed momentum in bilateral ties, including the ongoing negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Canada.
The week-long mission aims to deepen academic exchange and explore joint research ventures, industry linkages and sustainable models for transnational education. Discussions will focus on creating pathways for long-term collaboration that align with the development goals of both countries’ education ecosystems.
