Board examinations in parts of Gujarat were briefly disrupted on Wednesday after a series of bomb threat emails were reported by schools in Ahmedabad, prompting heightened security measures and temporary delays in scheduled papers.
According to officials, more than twenty schools received threatening messages early in the day, leading authorities to initiate immediate evacuation protocols and deploy police and bomb disposal squads across affected campuses. Examination centres were thoroughly sanitised before students were allowed to resume their papers.
The incident led to delays of about an hour in certain examinations, including those conducted under national and state boards. Authorities later confirmed that no explosives were found and described the threats as a hoax, though investigations have been initiated to trace the origin of the emails.
The episode has once again raised concerns about the vulnerability of critical public events to anonymous digital threats, particularly during the ongoing board examination season when lakhs of students are appearing for high-stakes tests.
Officials maintained that contingency measures were activated swiftly to ensure minimal disruption, but the incident has underscored the need for stronger cyber monitoring systems and coordinated emergency response protocols to safeguard educational institutions.
