The NEEEV innovation event, held across government schools in Delhi, brought together thousands of student-led projects that foregrounded sustainability, technology and problem-solving, aligning closely with the stated goals of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Conceived as a platform to move learning beyond rote methods, the initiative placed students at the centre of inquiry-based and experiential education.
Students from different grades presented projects addressing real-world challenges, ranging from waste management, renewable energy models and water conservation to technology-driven solutions using basic coding, sensors and design thinking. The emphasis was not merely on showcasing finished products, but on articulating the process of learning, how ideas were developed, tested and refined through collaboration and critical thinking.
Education officials described NEEEV as an attempt to translate NEP 2020’s vision into classroom practice, particularly its focus on multidisciplinary learning, scientific temper and early exposure to innovation. Teachers played a facilitative role, guiding students rather than directing outcomes, a shift that the policy advocates as essential to meaningful reform.
However, while the scale of participation signals administrative intent, the long-term value of such initiatives will depend on sustained investment, teacher training and curriculum integration. Without systemic support, events like NEEEV risk remaining isolated showcases rather than becoming embedded features of everyday schooling.
