Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday chaired the 13th meeting of the Council of the NITSER in New Delhi, reviewing academic, administrative, and governance issues across premier technical institutions.
The council discussed measures to strengthen academic quality, research output, and institutional governance in National Institutes of Technology, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research, and other centrally funded institutions under its mandate. Emphasis was placed on aligning teaching and research with national priorities while building global credibility.
Pradhan urged institutions to adopt transparent and accountable governance practices, improve faculty development, and expand industry engagement to support student readiness for emerging sectors. He also stressed the need for outcome based education, interdisciplinary research, and effective use of public resources.
The meeting reviewed ongoing reforms, infrastructure planning, faculty recruitment, and student welfare initiatives. Members examined ways to improve collaboration among institutions, promote innovation driven research, and attract international partnerships, while ensuring inclusion and regional balance.
Senior officials from the education ministry, heads of participating institutions, and council members attended the meeting. The council reaffirmed its commitment to raising academic standards and strengthening India’s technical education ecosystem through coordinated policy action.
