The National Council of Educational Research and Training has launched a four day learning programme aimed at helping mathematics teachers understand and apply artificial intelligence tools in classroom teaching.
The programme has been designed to familiarise teachers with the basics of artificial intelligence and its practical use in teaching mathematics concepts at the secondary level. It focuses on improving classroom engagement, problem solving approaches, and assessment methods through AI based applications.
According to NCERT, the training will introduce teachers to key AI concepts, ethical use of technology, and ways to integrate digital tools with the existing mathematics curriculum. Sessions will include hands on activities, demonstrations, and guided discussions to help participants translate theory into classroom practice.
The programme is part of NCERT’s broader effort to support teachers as schools adapt to technology driven learning environments. It also aligns with national priorities on digital literacy and use of emerging technologies in school education.
Teachers completing the programme will receive certification from NCERT. The council stated that the initiative is expected to help educators develop confidence in using AI tools while ensuring that technology supports conceptual clarity rather than replacing core teaching methods.
The four day module is scheduled to be conducted in an online format, allowing participation from teachers across different regions. NCERT officials said similar capacity building programmes may be expanded to other subjects in the future.
