New Delhi: The Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia has concluded a one-month Faculty Induction Programme designed for newly appointed teachers, officials said on Tuesday.
Conducted in line with the National Education Policy 2020 and Gurudakshata guidelines, the programme aimed to equip early-career faculty members with pedagogical, ethical and professional competencies aligned with contemporary higher education requirements. The induction programme was held in offline mode from December 1 to 29.
Addressing the valedictory session, Professor Mehtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar, Jamia Millia Islamia, underlined the role of teachers in strengthening democracy and nation-building, drawing upon ideas from classical philosophers. He also highlighted key priorities under the NEP 2020 framework, including the integration of Indian Knowledge Systems and regional languages, and invited feedback from participants to strengthen future initiatives.
According to Chief Public Relations Officer Saima Saeed, the programme featured 96 expert sessions delivered by distinguished scholars, academic leaders and policymakers from across the country. The sessions focused on fostering a holistic understanding of higher education and promoting reflective teaching practices.
The programme witnessed participation from newly recruited faculty members across disciplines, representing both public and private higher education institutions. The inaugural address was delivered by Professor Anita Rastogi, Dean, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia, who set the academic context with a lecture on higher education in India and globally.
The induction programme was coordinated by Professor Bharti Sharma, Professor in the Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education and Director, CINS, along with Dr Afaque Nadeem Khan, Associate Professor, Department of Educational Studies. Officials also acknowledged the support of Professor Kulwinder Kaur, Honorary Director, and the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre team.
Eminent speakers from institutions including JMI, DU, JNU, IGNOU, AMU, MANUU, Central University of Gujarat and Central University of Himachal Pradesh addressed participants on higher education policy, curriculum design, ethics in research, technology-enabled learning, student engagement, sustainable development goals and professional development.
